  • Excellent bargain

For the money, you’re not going to beat these speakers. I use them as front and rear surrounds. They would be great for an inexpensive dorm setup or secondary stereo system. They appear and function as brand new.

  • Shockingly good performance from a well designed budget speaker

I was very surprised how good these little speakers are for the price. Good imaging and pleasing tonal balance. They have a surprising amount of bass from such a small 4" driver. However, it is rear ported so they need to be a minimum of 18" away from the front wall to avoid boomy, muddy bass. I'm using it with a simple integrated amp with a tube front end and Class D output stage. Very easy to listen to due to the reserved top end. I've not heard anything better at $100.

  • Great bang for your buck

great buy for the money...bought it "open boxed" on pioneer home. It came with a closed box like new. No damage on the cabinets or anywhere. Sound quality superb after a little dsp tuning. Low end is lacking but knew that going in. For acoustics and instrumentals it fills in the low end just fine but it lacks that low for edm/hip hop/trance. Will add a cheap sub. These speakers were paired with an el cheapo lepai168ha rated @ 40watts. Speakers take 80 or 90watts I believe. Turning it all the way up is low enough to fill the 800 sq feet of my nyc apartment.

  • Worth Every Penny!

The Pioneer SP-BS22-LR offers tremendous value for your audio dollar. The speaker is well engineered and nicely constructed. If this speaker cost two to three times what it does I'd still consider it to be a good value. However, at $120 the pair the SP-BS22-LR represents one of the best values in affordable book shelf speakers presently found on the audio market. This is a flexible sounding little speaker that sounds as good playing rock and roll as it does classical or jazz. Perhaps most noteworthy is that in spite of its affordable price, the SP-BS22-LR does what all great audio products do; it maintains a neutrality that allows it to faithfully honor the music. Highly recommended! And kudos to designer Andrew Jones for giving us such a wonderful product at such an affordable price!

  • Great range of sound and a tremendous value!

These speakers lived up to the reviews. The size and finish is great, but most importantly the clarity and presence was evident from the first song. I'll tell you, if you play Magic Bus by The Who you will be converted. I did add an Elac 10" sub to add a little boom because of my high ceilings. My hearing test noted that I don't actually hear tone until 33 hz, so I didn't need a 20 hz sub. I notice a slight roll-off on the highs but only on a couple of songs. These weren't $1000 speakers after all. These Andrew Jones speakers are a delight to listen to and a great value.

  • Great small speaker

I use these speakers as audio output for desktop computer and as a room hifi. MUCH better than typical powered computer speakers. Powered by a small import integrated tube amp with inputs from desktop and a separate tuner. Very pleasing sound. Not party level volume.

  • Best super budget entry

I use these in our front room. Dance studio 14x23 with a 12' ceiling. They're Probably the best bang-4-buck budget speakers for anyone who cant spring for a subwoofer right. I'd take my smaller enclosed NHT super zero 2.1s over them any day though provided you pair those with a subwoofer. I currently us a to he pioneer SW8 that matches these speakers btw. The veneer does tend to pull off along with adhesive pads

  • Just get them is what I reccmmend

These speakers need no introduction of course. Their pedigree relative to price is simply unmatched. If you are debating book shelf speakers...get these. I am a mechanical engineer...huge music gunkie...all genres...massive music collection. They are driven easily with a modest receiver. I suggest a sub woofer. Sound is simply wonderful. After a couple of weeks of listening they start to break in and sound quality just keeps getting better. If you are wondering about speaker stands, I recommend Sanus Cherry stands...sturdy and beautiful aesthetic...nice cosmetic adjunct to all black speakers..I got the 30 inch high stand model. You want the tweeters around ear level for best sound. For fun..connect your big screen TV to your PC via HDMI cable and then your PC sound card to your receiver via digital optical TOSLINK. If you have an old receiver like I do with only analog RCA cables, purchase an inexpensive TOSLINK to RCA digital to analog converter....a little powered box...about $11 off ebay and now you have your PC connected to your receiver for all your music files without running thru HDMI which can be used for watching youtube on your big screen. Don't dither with a so called smart browser with your big screen TV. Mine is a Samsung Smart TV. A PC's browser is so much better and easier to navigate by extending displays from PC to TV. Enjoy the remarkable sound of these Pioneer speakers designed by Andrew Jones who has few peers when it comes to speaker design.

  • If you set them up properly...

...Put these on 26-28-inch stands and within 4 feet of a wall. Hands down one of the best investments in audio and for fantastic sound in general! My other speakers are over $10k and the Pioneer SP-BS-22LR's are not embarrassed in terms of sound. A very natural vocal region and terrific 3D imaging and soundstaging. They can go pretty loud! However, these are not for Speed Metal or treble-happy people. They are more accurate than that requires.

  • Pionner SP-BS22-LR

This speakers are perfect in all aspects, highly recommend them. The sound is smooth, very pleasing, accurate in the treble and bass areas. I can hear very clearly modulations in the voices of singers I never heard before. For the best bass reproduction let the speakers sound for a few days.
