Item not as advertised. Seller advertised the painting as a self-portrait by Edmund F. Ward that came “without a certificate of authenticity, but its originality is guaranteed.” Painting is NOT of Ward, but rather a former NY judge that was reported stolen from an interstate shipment. The seller claimed to have bought it from a collector and that it originally had a letter attached which seller lost. Seller agreed to send a letter detailing the information but did not. Beware this seller!

I mailed a letter shortly after I was contacted by the buyer. I don't know why he never received it. I can send it via PDF. I buy 90% of what I sell at yard/estate sales - 10% at auctions. I passed along the info that I remembered from the letter that was attached. I had no reason not to believe it. It IS an authentic Ward painting - they just had the subject wrong apparently. I've been selling for over 50 years. I do appraisals for a number of attorneys. Many people can vouch for my integrity.
