I have used this media player everyday since I received it. Frankly, I love it. It is everything a Samsung Galaxy S cellphone is minus the cellphone and the high price of a cellphone. Phoning capability is there is you have Skype and a wifi connection. Since I already have a Tracfone to do all the things I want to do with a phone, I only needed something that would play music and videos. I was afraid that using a cell phone to act as an MP4 player may cause me to use up all my battery life at a time when I might need to make a phone call. That is why I chose this unit. The sound quality is superb and the picture quality is excellent as well as the viewing angles. The rear camera is better for taking long distance shots to give a panoramic view than a stand-alone camera or camcorder. If you are not using the highest quality setting, then you can zoom in but not very much for photo or video shots. To complement this unit, I bought a memory card so that now I have 40 GB total. I have not come close to using even 2 GB. I also bought an FM-transmitter to play music through my car speakers. This is where you notice how exceptional the sound quality is. Even with inexpensive Sony headphones, the sound is so much better than any other player I have ever had. Batter life is another big plus. I also love the drop-and-drag capability. I cannot comment on the other features because I do not use them. They do work because I did try them at least once.Read full review
I love this thing. I wanted a pocket-sized Andriod device and was too cheap to pay $20/month for data service on a cell phone so I bought this player instead of a phone. The 4" screen is noticeably better than the 3.5" screen on an iPad touch without the overall unit being much bigger. As a player it works great. As a micro-tablet for games and apps it works great. The GPS tracking is great. What's best is you can add a 32G memory chip for about $140 instead of paying a ridiculously higher price for an Apple device with more memory. Also, it takes a standard micro USB cord instead of a proprietary cord. Apple can stuff their closed system architecture. They're the new evil empire that MicroSoft used to be. Go open system; buy an Android instead of an iPod Touch. You won't be sorry.Read full review
First off Im going to be comparing the galaxy player to it`s direct competitor "the Ipod touch 4th generation 8Gb and it`s operating system,IOS 5.0."And yes I have used both devices, and love them both. Operating system: Android is the most popular mobile operating system in the world,It is highly customizable,Has a large app store with over 250,000 apps and counting,And did I mention it supports flash player (Most websites that you visit on the web have some sort of flash content) This feature is not available on any other mobile platform. Now the bad,the android app store while very large, does not have a very wide selection of games,Ios has a much larger selection. Processor:The galaxy player has a 1ghz snapdragon processor compared to the Ipod touches 700mhz Apple A4 processor. Ram: The galaxy has 512Mb of ram compared to the Ipod touches 256. GPS (Global Positioning System):This is somthing the Ipod does not have. The galaxy therefore has the capability for location based services, such as navigation. Battery life:The galaxy has a maximum of 36 hours of audio and 7 hours of video compared to the Ipods 40 hours audio and 7 hours video. So far I have gotten around 9-10 hours with brightness turned all of the way up with WIFI,GPS,And Bluetooth all on.The galaxy also has a user replacable battery. The Ipod does not Speed:The galaxy player is fast, due to the 1Ghz processor. In my testing I found the galaxy to load things around 3-5 seconds faster than the Ipod, with the exception of games(see Gaming). Gaming:This is were android lacks. There is not as large of a selection of games as there is on Ios.I found some games lag alot on the galaxy while the same games on the Ipod did not,I don`t understand why,But they do. Audio:Audio is very crisp and clear on the galaxy due to its stereo(2) speakers, compared to the Ipod touches mono(1)speaker.I found the music playback on the galaxy to be much better than the Ipods when listened to through headphones. Back camera:The galaxy has a 3.2mp camera that can shoot stills as well as capture video,The Ipod touch has a 0.7mp camera that can shoot stills as well as 720p HD video. The picture quality on the galaxy I found to be a bit better than the Ipod, video quality although good on the galaxy, looked much better on the Ipod. Front camera:Both devices have a VGA quality front camera.I found the quality to be a tad bit better on the Ipod, but not to much that it will effect your video calling. Memory:Both devices have 8Gb internal storage. The difference is that the galaxy allows you to add your own micro sd card,so you can expand the memory to 40Gb. Design:The galaxy`s dimensions are 2.53" x 4.87" x 0.39".So the galaxy is quite a bit thicker than the Ipod. The galaxy Weighes in at 4.27oz. the Ipod Weighes in at 3.56oz. Web Browsing:The galaxy supports flash player the Ipod does not.So web browsing feels more like your browsing the real web.Browsing is very quick, pages load around 4-7 seconds faster than the Ipod, depending on the page. I think that covers what most people will want to know,so lets get to the pros and cons. Pros: Android OS. Battery Life,User replacable battery adds a nice touch. Speed. Sd card storage. Audio quality. GPS. Cons: Lack of games in the app store. Quality of games. Camera quality could be a little better. The bottom line; This is a great choice if you do not plan on playing alot of games or taking alot of pictures.I hope this helps anyone considering this deviceRead full review
I bought the galaxy, because I wanted the features of a smart phone with out the monthly charges. Mostly for MP3 and GPS features, which work very well. The screen is crisper than I expected and video looks amazing. The 32 Gig sd card slipped right in and there is tons of memory now. Wi-Fi is easy to use and I can check F.B, and my E-mail with out lugging my laptop when traveling. Sound is great as well.
It looks, works and feels like a small cell phone. If you own another Samsung Galaxy product you will be completely familiar with this device. Actually, except for lack of a cell-phone radio, it is a cell phone. In addition to the music player app, there are many others of which you would be familiar. Included is an FM radio that pulls in great stereo sound. It even has a fairly good camera! Memory for file storage (music, audio books, photos etc.) can be increased up to 32GB with an SD card. It supports other music file types besides MP3, as well as high-definition video file types. Just like a cell phone, the rechargeable battery can be easily removed and replaced. The WiFi and Bluetooth radios can connect to your other devices such as your wireless speakers or LAN. Not only that, but it looks great. Most people would think it is a small cell phone. These were the things I was looking for in my new MP3 player and I found them in a seven-year-old device.Read full review

I bought my Galaxy Player as a replacement for an ancient phone of mine that lacks the ability to perform any function other than calling and texting. I have to say that I'm quite content with my decision. I simply love the feel of the MP3. It's light, sleek, and slim. Its transitions from screen to screen is also pretty smooth. Some apps, though, tend to lag at the start but is fine after a bit of use. This MP3 is quite fragile compared to an iPhone. I recently dropped it and found minor scratches on the outer silver rim part. The iPhone, on the other hand, has been dropped at least four times and has shown no sign of damage. But, on the bright side, using an android is simpler than using an iPhone. There's no need to connect to iTunes to preform almost every action, its bluetooth connection is better, and it has expandable memory.Read full review

I bought this for my granddaughter for her birthday and she loves it. The screen is much bigger and it has a lot more functions than the Apple product that was similarly priced. She can also use it like a phone on their wi-fi.
Much better hardware than an I-pod. The only downside is not having a dock that plays and charges. Faster than Ipod better camera GPS satelite fm radio.
