This book was recommended by my english professor because he said that my writing had Marxist leanings. I have enjoyed putting names and frames of reference to ideas I have beleived for a long time. Mr. Friere explains the paradox of an oppressed society eloquently, but offers little in the way of solutions. This was a great book to help correlate personal ideals with the causes of the obstacles that hinder them.

I bought this product for a chicano studies class. its a great read. i thought it was just gonna be another textbook to read but it was nothing like that. It opened my eyes to certain things i didn't pay attention to. The book arrived fairly quickly, within 5 days i believe. It was new as promised. I didnt have any trouble with purchasing it. overall, the service was great and i reccomened this book to who ever is studying in the field of chicano studies or ethnic studies for that matter.
I was introduced to Paulo Friere's text Pedagogy of the Oppressed as a required book for my doctorial course in education. I have only started the course but even at this point I am amazed. This book was written years ago, yet it applies to us today and in the US. Warning...this book is not recommended for consumption by far right conservatives as it may lead to liberalization of thought.
Well worth the small amount you will pay, Freire puts ideas into words that are quite lovely. Some of his phrasings need be read once over to put them in logical order (I think the translations have made his words jumbled, a bit), but when you understand what he is trying to say, you realize al sorts of new things.
I like this product because it was recommended by my Ethnic Studies professor. It is one of those books that should continually be kept on society. Everyone should read this book. It is a mind opener and it teaches you to look at things differently. We are taught to blend and to be silent. We are taught that minorities are inferior to Whites and that racism is no longer an issue, but it still is.
This is a very enlightening book. I'm going to school to teach and it has allowed me to gain a different understanding of the concept of teaching. gaining knowledge is related to becoming what one should truly be. GREAT BOOK!
