I've owned this game since it launched, it is a stylish and enjoyable game. It is unfortunate that it gets compared unfavorably to Capcom successful Devil May Cry franchise which is a quite a bit more frantic and difficult which challenges players a bit more. Chaos Legion is unique though in that as the title describes you have various legions to unleash to aid you in combat. These various legions are like side kick minions you summon and they can be leveled up, some are single stronger allies others are like a pack of multiple legions etc. Aside from my original play copy I am writing this review upon buying a 'sealed' copy as a collectors library addition etc. It is a game that is unique and worthy of a relaunch/remake.

I bought this game because my original copy went missing. I wanted it back badly. It is a smooth running game with a difficulty that rivals that of ninja gaiden 1 and 2 (definitely not 3). This game is a hardcore hack and slash that pitts you against tons of enemies that can attack from all sides. Of course you are not alone, for you can summon your legions (up to 5) to help attack all enemies in all directions or pull them together and concentrate your groups attack on a single target to destroy boss type enemies. Imagine doing a 50+ combo in all directions and then pulling all your forces back and continuing to do another combo on the boss, then unsummoning all your guys off the screen while the boss counters with an area attack and summons his own minions and you start all over again- and all in real time. Instead of attacking, you can even call your legions back and set up a defensive line that attacks anything that comes near, for those near death moments where you dont want to die and start all over again because it took forever to get to that point. Yeah, I love this game. I gotta say it really is too hardcore for most people. I've only known a few others who could make it to the 4th stage let alone beating it. I recommend this game to any and everyone as a "challenge" to their game playing abilities. Let the trash talking commence.Read full review
very underrated title from years ago. its a diamond in the rough. Its been compared to Devil May Cry way too many times to even be accurate because they are completely different games. They share the hack and slash nature, but thats it, the protagonist in CL is more silent and serious than Dante from DMC. the entire gameplay structure revolves around strategic uses of different legions, make the wrong choice in the wrong battle and the odds are against you. If you are looking for a decent challenge and a unique experience, get this. the only problems i have with the game is the occasional lag in the menus and the empty level design. great game, action, and story. get it while it still exists.
Chaos Legion, a Classic title, i bought this years ago but couldn't afford it at its launch price, as its launch price remained $49.99 for the longest time, (this was before i knew of internet shopping via amazon.com/Ebay) but when i did finally get this game and play it i wouldn't even compare it to DMC or the like, its a unique title on its own with its Gothic Elements and Amazing soundtrack with great and unique gameplay. This is a PS2 action rpg classic that deserved to have had a PS3/360 sequel but overall if you still haven't played this classic, go for it now, twas one of the better games of the early 2000's and remains a really fun game to this day.
Chaos legion made a somewhat huge impact in the PS2 gaming world 4 years ago. The cons were that it was similar to Devil May Cry series. I completely disagree. The game itself is hardcore surreal and the monsters, maps and level is difficult, even on easy. The music was exceptionally beautiful, it's appropriate for it's level and story. If you're a gamer, wanting to remember the good games, or just reminice on how much you loved the game, then this is it for you. The story is beyond reasonable doubt, intriguing and interesting, well worth the price.
I originally bought this game years ago because of the reference to Devil May Cry on the back. I bought it again because more often than not, I can't put this one down. I love the game for its simple game play, but deep tone. Gothic themes resonate throughout the story and make up the heart of the game. Harnessing the power of various glyphs, Seig Warheit must withstand the evil that threatens his very existence. A fantastic musical score doesn't hurt things either. If you loved Devil May Cry, you'll fall in love with Chaos Legion.
