I have several Rover P6 models from Corgi and Vanguards but have to say that this is my favourite one of them all including the original corgi one with Transolite headlamps. My favourite full-size Rovers were made between 1933 and 1964 and to me both the P5 31/2 litre and the P6 3500 are a bit modern therefore! I clearly recall both cars being released so you must realise I am ancient now, consequently I am paying this model a huge compliment by surprising myself and recognising what a good likeness it is. It really does get the feel of those blue Police Rovers that I used to see around London all the time when I was a boy. (They never traced me). That hard to define sense of realism is always the deciding factor for me in choosing models and this Metropolitan Rover really has achieved that attribute. This is the primary reason I always preferred Corgi above Dinky and Spot-On when growing up although I realise this is a personal thing. I have a Motorway Patrol P6 by Vanguards as well and I am very pleased with it but to my mind this London P6 takes the prize. 50 years ago it was so familiar and here it is, back again, albeit a little smaller this time than I remember! Incidentally, the two types of Vanguards Police 3500 look great together especially if you can arrange for them to be chasing an unfortunate felon in a Mk 2 Jag 3.4 or 3.8!Read full review
