About this product

Product Information

Wipeout Fusion is the fourth title in the series, but the first to appear on PlayStation 2. Like its predecessors, the emphasis is on guiding your futuristic racing craft through twisting courses filled with loops, tight turns, and massive jumps, all while making use of the many power-ups littering each track. Five gameplay modes are available, three of which are selectable from the start. AG League sees you racing against 15 other anti-gravity craft in a series of contests. Points are awarded for your placing position as well as when you eliminate opposing racers. There are ten series, each consisting of a varying number of tracks. Performance in a race, in addition to final position, dictates the number of credits you receive. These credits can then be used to upgrade the various attributes of your craft, which include stability, braking, thrust, speed, shield, and weapons.

Arcade mode puts you through your choice of 42 races with the aim of winning a gold medal in each (by placing first). Challenge mode pits you in Chase, Elimination, Race, and Time Trial disciplines with the objective again being to win gold medals. There are seven challenges for each of the teams, which include the likes of Feistar, G-Tech, and Van Uber, each of whom is proficient in a particular racing category, from speed to shields. Zone mode drops you in the seat of special AG craft in ten tracks trying to collect as many speed chevrons as possible. Every ten seconds you'll move up a zone level and your speed will increase, making it all the more difficult to avoid colliding with the track wall.

Tracks are situated across seven different zones, from Vohl Square in Russia to Florian Heights in the U.S.A. Each track houses weapon and speed icons. The former encompass all manner of incendiary implements, such as missiles, mines, and flamethrowers as well as defensive weapons such as shields and a brief autopilot. In addition, each team possesses a super-weapon. One example is a nitrogen missile that freezes the craft it connects with -- impact with any object will ultimately shatter the craft. Wipeout Fusion's soundtrack features songs from such bands as the Utah Saints, Orbital, and Humanoid.

Item recieved passed 2 weeks after purchase, frustrating. Item was shipped out real late. Advertised new, but I received refurbished damaged product( The clip to the battery cover was broken, the cover would not stay close, Other than that the machine performed fine). With few emails back and forth, I recieved a small partial refund. I was not satisfied cause I was bidding against myself but I accepted it anyway, I wanted to be fair to the seller maybe I'm to nice. Open box not new.

    Best Wipeout Ever

This wipeout may mimic the fastness of F-Zero sometimes, but that plus weapons makes this game an absolute blast. Never in my life has a game challenged my reflexes to the milliseconds of several turns. This game is for vetetans or just really good AG pilots.

  • good game. average for PS2 but I would say below average for a wipeout game

This game is OK to play. I expected more from a PS2 title, but seeing as it is one of the earlier games released for the PS2 and the programmers did indeed have difficulty programming games for the machine, I can't let it hurt my rating of it too much. Specifically the graphics take a hit on this one. They are pixelated and actually remind you of the ps1 wipeout series, which were admittedly a lot better gameplay wise. When you see the "caution tape" textures on the race track surface, they look really grainy and pixelated. The checkered start/finish track surface textures also fail to excite my eyecandy desire. There are some rendering glitches with the track and vehicles, and the AI racers generally do not steer properly, with a bit of a jitteryness. There is also a bug in the race track ...

  • Worthless game from a seller

This game Wipeout has tons of problems. It has zero-energy walls if you manage to get to one which is wasy to do on some tracks you'll go right through it and fall off the track and lose your place in the race. The AI after winning a race is very stupid. After you win a race the AI hover craft will crash into walls and do other things that are not fun to deal with. Also if you enter cheat codes some of the time that you play the game Wipeout they won't work at all. Also once you unlock a surtain item in the game like if you manage to unlock the advanced missiles you can't use them in any race it relocks up on you. IF you unlock some of the games features they too will become relocked up. It's a poor game to play. I would recemmond that you buy the used ...

  • Missing Something...

I followed the Wipeout series from the beginning. While previous games focused on racing with weapons just used to gain small advantages, this game has placed a much larger component on the fighting and eliminating opponents aspect. While I enjoyed this aspect of the game, I found the handling of the vehicles to be lacking. Where the older versions truly had the feeling of flying above the track, the vehicle feels locked to the track at a fixed altitude in this game, giving a much more typical racing experience. I found it to be lacking.
