    Awesome

    This flash is still awesome now days. Obviously works perfectly with Minolta analog cameras (lots of features: wireless mode, high speed sync & many more). Works also greatly with Sony digital cameras in manual mode (studio or outdoor purpose. Coupled with light modifiers like umbrellas or light boxes this flash integrates perfectly into any setup, professional or amateur)

    I really like this strobe!

    Most of the 5000 series of Minolta flashes are very good and the same is true with the 5400 HS(High Speed). I love mine. That said, if wanting to use all of the features available on your DSLR, don't buy it! This flash does not communicate with the "A" series Sony DSLR's. It will work on these cameras but only in manual mode, meaning that the only settings available are the power settings, which go from "Full" to "1/32." If that is what you are looking for, you'll find this to be an almost 100% consistent flash as long as you allow it to recycle fully (about 10 seconds). Battery life is about average, and flash coverage is quite even. I use it as a slave, with either a Quantum Bantam, Battery1, or 1+ and it is great! I actually have three of them.

    Plenty of power,light people 30 feet away.

    I bought this for use on a Sony A65. It only works in Manual mode. I use as a slave also and it works fine. The only draw back is you have to meter every shot. This is great if used in the studio but not so well in the field. When I use it at weddings. I get there early and take meter reading where the people be standing. I mark the floor with masking tape. When the people arrive. I position them where the tape is and I just shoot away. It works well

    5400, budget flash

    The 5400 is very old technology, but the best brand name flash for those on a tight budget.

    Good, reliable flash. Great build quality. For film cameras recommended.

    I like very much this flash. The build quality is great. The moving head is very useful. Is very powerful: 45mm guide number. I recommend this flash for the Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha 600si, 700si and 800si, for newer cameras like the Maxxum/Dynax/Alpha 5, 7 and 9, the best option is the 5600HS.
