    9 pounds, but sturdy.

This anvil is the right anvil for smaller projects and at a great value. The flat surface has been ground to a great finish, but the rest of the anvil was dipped in a protective paint/enamel. Some of the edges on the horn had imperfections on the tip that I had to pound smooth with my forge hammer (I could have used a grinder to make the pitting smooth, but with enough cold hits, the cast iron formed into shape). Being cast iron, expect some voids (small) in the metal. The one I received had a small void right in the center of the horn tip which, as I explained, was solved with some use of my hammer. Remember, this is not a $300 anvil... you get what you pay for, but I was pleased that it was a good little anvil (even with the slight imperfections). I have no doubt after using it for a few ...

  • 9 lb. Anvil

This is a good quality entry level hobbey anvil. It is a step up from the anvil on the rear of my bench vice. It is made in India from cast iron. The overall finish is very good. However, the grinding of the anvil surface revealed several smaii surface defects (air pockets) in the cast iron. The anvil horn is unfinished, but it could easily be finished with an angle grinder if so needed. Finally, I mounted the anvil on a wood board (#12 x 1" screws) so it can be clamped to my workbench when needed for use.

  • Anvil

Was a cast product, therefore it was pretty rough as for the finish on it, had been surface milled for the flat part. Had to sand that down, then polish with rouge to smooth that part out. The horn is basically unusable for detail work, as it is rough. I just needed something to set my snaps on in my leatherwork, works great for that.
