Although the backgrounds are lacking graphically, the sprites, and sound are good. Gameplay is just as good as the arcade, especially if you have the six button arcade stick. But if you don't, make sure you use some kind of six-button controller. The three-button layout is awkward, and pretty much makes the game way more frustrating if you're used to the arcade or snes layout.
