Keep your batteries charged!!
I bought this to replace the converter that went bad on my 17' Casita. Installation was fairly easy although I had to extend the battery negative wire to reach on the new circuit board. I used a copper crimp splice plus solder. On the circuit board I used every other fuse slot so it would be easier to replace fuses. I really like the LED that illuminates if/when the fuse blows. There has to be some sort of a load on the circuit for the LED to illuminate. The head of the screws supplied were too small for the cover so you may have to use additional washers. I didn't realize there were threaded inserts and destroyed a couple trying to use sheet metal screws with larger heads. The converter is nothing but a very nice, smart battery charger. I've monitored charging voltage for several days ... I bought this to replace the converter that went bad on my 17' Casita. I've monitored charging voltage for several days and the voltage supplied is similar to a "battery maintainer" so you can leave it plugged in for a very long time without cooking the battery. I'll be interested to see what happens once the battery is depleted of charge. The old converter would fluctuate voltage and the new one appears to be much more stable. One word of caution: I bought the 35 amp converter. It was tempting to get a bigger one for the same price. Before you go to a bigger one make sure the trailer battery wires are of a sufficient gauge and length to handle the extra current. Not sure? Your best bet is to stick with the original amperage output. Good luck!! G.
