Great scanner overall.
I didn't give this scanner 5 stars because NEAT tries to breathe down your neck about using their cloud based system. It is more cost effective for me to use my own storage and or cloud based system. It reads the receipts very well. Sometimes it misses a beat here and there, but for the most part it does a great job. I scan everything and make it digital these days. :-)

I've been using the same product for about nine years and it is reliable if you keep the rubber wheels clean. The software works well but is to its own. By this I mean I cannot integrate it with any other program.

The Neat software, included, helps the user define document 'folders'. The user can use the pre-defined, software folders, or the user can define their own folders. You can purchase a SUBSCRIPTION (monthly or annually) which allows users to sync data via the cloud for use with multiple devices. Imagine you are at the drugstore and you have a tax deductible, medication recepit. The user can use their 'smart phone' or 'device' (most all have apps for Neat ... Wonderful product. We were persuaded by the advertising and comparative reviews of scanners to try this unit instead of a 'more traditional' one. The first time user simplicity may be top-rated but we found the steps NOT as intuitive as we expected based on working with other scanners. And, we found the scanning process itself to be a bit slower than we expected too! With all of that said the Neat NS-1000 certainly wins on style points and we like the function of its 'tilted' design, removable multi-stock-types feeder, and the reasonable to navigate software. In our opinion it's not quite up to Nuance's PaperPort software, but pretty close... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . If you found this review interesting or useful would you vote [YES] below. A great scanner; as far as I'm concerned, it's the best I've ever used.
Compared to other scanning devices I've used in the past, this scanner simply can't be beat! Easy to set-up and use, and it just keeps churning away without ever needing any special attention. Objects are scanned quickly and clearly, and software makes integrating the scanned material so easy into the multitude of files I maintain.
