I loved ALF and I was really disappointed that it ended on a cliffhanger. I wanted to see Project: ALF when it came out, but I was out of the country at the time so I missed it. That being said, I'm glad I was finally able to see Project: ALF and it does give closure, but it was nowhere near as good as the series. ALF (actual character’s name was Gordon Shumway) was at his best when he was being totally self-absorbed, rude, inconsiderate, politically incorrect for the time, and throwing out one-liners. There are a few moments in Project: ALF where he does this again, but most of the 90 or so minutes show other non-original cast members and it really slows down during these periods. The original family is also nowhere to be seen. On the other hand, the scenes of ALF on the centrifuge were original and very funny. If you were an ALF fan like me and you were left on the series ending cliffhanger, then you should see this movie and you'll mostly enjoy it; but be forewarned, it just doesn't have the show's original magic. And if you were never a fan of the show or you hadn't seen it at all, then you should take a pass on seeing it.Read full review
The final episode ("Consider Me Gone") was intended as a cliffhanger. At the time it was filmed, NBC was still undecided as to whether or not the show would be picked up for another season. The cliffhanger format was intended to help persuade NBC to give the show one more chance, if only to resolve the "To Be Continued" ending. Six years later, the TV movie Project: ALF (1996) (TV) finally brought closure. Unfortunately the lack of the original human cast, and poor writing, cause many fans to reject Project: ALF as part of the show's canon. It didn't capture the same spirit and charm of the original show. Without Willie and Kate (especially) and the original gang to play off of, Alf didn't have the same charm or wit.
Plot is OK, but not tightly written. Lots of unresolved issues. They should have written a sequel and let ALF finally get together with Rhonda to have a family.

This was the long awaited sequel for the Alf series, which ended in 90, and ran for 4 seasons. (86-90) I find it to be entertaining for adult fans, and still mostly kid friendly in content. I do know everyone has different opinions about the movie, but I feel it does give some follow up closure to the series, which ended in 90, and this did not air until 2002 If I remember correctly on television first, and DVD became on sale in 2005. I have the complete 4 season collectors set, plus this now completes to date, for myself, all the funny memories of the ole ALFSTER!!

Gotta love the old Alf! Great to see this movie available for those of us who just can't get enough of Alf. I do wish there had been more of the original cast with him for the movie, but if you are a true Alf fan, this is a mus-have for your collection.

I love this movie. The simple laughs from ALF come back without being in your face slapstick humor.

Even though the Tanner Family was not in the movie, the explanation if the scenario. It definitely tied up the questions from the last TV episode. ALF was still in rare form.

A must see for all ALF fans. Continues from where the series abruptly left off. Answers some questions and should get us ready for the proposed ALF remake just announced. Kind of a simple movie but so was ALF. All in all, we liked it.
