About this product

Product Information

The Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 28 mm - 80 mm AF Lens features a maximum aperture of f/3.3-f/5.6 and a minimum aperture of f/22-f/38, which means it can easily adapt to many different shots and film types. Close-up shots are possible with this Nikon camera lens, as it has a close focus range of 14-inches, which means a close-up shot will not become blurred. The standard measurements for this Nikon camera lens are 2.606-inches in diameter and 2.520-inches in length, which makes it easy to place into a camera bag. The Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 28-80 mm AF Lens weighs in at just 6.85 oz, so it will not weigh a camera down during a long photo shoot. This is an autofocus camera lens, but its user can override the autofocus and manually focus a shot. Having a 58 mm filter size means that most common filters will fit this autofocus camera lens. Attention to key features is important when shopping for a new camera lens and the Nikon Zoom-Nikkor 28 mm - 80 mm AF Lens has plenty of these features to fit any photographer’s needs.

    An Affordable Basic

Every camera bag needs a lens that satisfies the photographer's needs most of the time. This 28-80 mm. lens does that for many. For wide angle shots of landscapes, to selective focus for portraits and close telephoto shots, this lens does the required. It is lightweight so is easy to carry attached to the camera. Used on a camera that can use its auto focus, it is good for quick shots of children and pets. I find this a very useful standard lens that costs less than a fixed prime lens, and even less bought used. It is photography on a budget, and can always be upgraded if needed. And when a longer telephoto is required, it can be replaced on the camera with a longer zoom, like a 70 - 300 mm. Two lenses can cover about 99% of many peoples' needs. The 28-80 zoom is often the most ...

    Worth more than it costs.

I bought this lens to fill in a range I barely use. Most of my photography is ultra wide, Macro or telephoto. I found myself in need of something that could fill in in a pinch in this medium wide to medium long range that I hardly visit. I searched around online for inexpensive, relatively sharp lenses out there because I did not want to spend $2K on a lens I would almost never use. I paid $36 for it used, tested it for sharpness and it performed 'fine', just like I expected. It had no glaring optical shortcomings. I shoot full frame Nikon D850 and the extremely high resolution of that sensor did not reveal any problems with its performance. It was of course not breathtakingly sharp, and I never expected it to be. It weighs only a few grams and is very plasticky. I do not see it as a ...

  • Good quality lens & picture quality. Feather-weight

I purchased this lens for my 14mp digital camera. I have a variety of lens from different companies and I needed this specific lens for a job. What I liked most about it -- the Nikon name and the clarity of the lens. The pictures came out sharp, with excellent detail level, contrast and colors. It is feather-weight and a good bargain for the price. My dislikes -- the casing is not metal but rather plastic. It just feels really cheap especially with it having the Nikon name. Could be more solid. There also is no aperture ring or distance markings on focus ring and the lens turns as it focuses. This could be a problem when using a polarizer.

  • great lens for a very reasonable price.

I bought my zoom lens for about $45 used. It is plastic but it is reasonably durable and very, very light for a zoom lens. it is a great walking around lens as it cover the most popular and needed zoom ranges. I specifically bought it for my F4s and it is a perfect match for that camera as It has a built in motor drive. The only downside to this lens is that it is not very fast, but for garden variety outdoor shooting or flash shooting it does a fantastic job. You pay a premium price for faster lenses so this lens is the one to get for the most bang for your buck.

  • Great value for a lens which will rival any pure digital image lens photo.

With an equivalent digital camera lens enormously more expensive, I've opted to remain in the 35mm film realm for a bit longer in some aspects of my photography, getting only the negative processing with a CD. The CD processing allows digital imaging, while waiting for the prices of high-end 35mm cameras and lenses to come down; the adoption curve for good quality digital lenses and camera bodies is still in its infancy, especially considering being in an economic recession. This is a very nice lens which cost only $45. It has no aperture ring, but all of the aperture settings are done via the camera body lcd display anyways, like for aperture-priority operation. The 28-80 mm lens has always been a good "core zoom" lens choice, because it encompasses a nice zoom range around "normal ...
