Great Price for a great
The Good I was looking for a decent receiver with Dolby Digital and DTS-ES. Normally these range anywhere from $300 to $500. I did not pay anywhere near that amount, but having had time to tweak this unit, I can say that I would easily pay that much and be very happy with my product. It is a 6.1 receiver, and since 99.9% of movies and content do NOT contain a 7.1 format (or 7.2 for that matter) I decided that 6.1 was really all that was needed. Don't let anyone fool you into believing that 7.1 is better. The only movie I have seen with direct 7.1 support is the new Rambo movie. Everything else will basically duplicate the signal for the L + R rear surrounds so you're not getting true 7.1. There are plenty of input and output options available here, making this receiver the center of your home theater system (the way it should be). With the feature set and sound produced, I can definitely say I am more than pleased with this unit. The Bad The only bad thing I can think of is the setup. It is NOT user friendly. The menu designs and basic I/O options are not clearly arranged and it will take some time to tune this receiver properly to your hardware. Also, I have done away with the remote in favor of a Logitech Harmony all in one, which has made my life quite a bit easier. The Ugly None to speak of. The only real gripe I had with this unit is the relative complexity of its setup operation. That's about it, and I am really reaching for that one. Its the ONLY reason this unit gets 4 stars from me instead of 5. To me, there is always room for improvement.

As the seller indicated, this item seems to be unused. It is an excellent AV Stereo Receiver made by Yamaha. Unlike most brands, Yamaha has outstanding features and puts out more power than specified.

ABSOLUTLY AMAZING!!
I did alot of research and asking around before I decided on this receiver. I have alot of friends that have sound systems and they all recommended yamaha receivers. I thought their systems sounded by far the best, compared to others. I listen to alot of hard rock and heavy metal. The first song I played when I got the receiver was Ashes of the Wake by Lamb of God. I have this receiver paired with 2 Pioneer cs-c9000, 150Watts each. I have this hooked up to my ipod and I listened to music all night long. First night I had it I got in trouble by the police for being to loud, so this receiver can power anything, I didnt even have it pasted half way and it was shacking my apartment building. I havent tried it in 5.1 yet but I cant even imagine having three more speakers with this receiver. All ... I did alot of research and asking around before I decided on this receiver.
