About this product

Product Information

Eve of Extinction is a 3D beat-'em-up featuring weapons-based combat. Players assume the role of Josh Calloway as he seeks revenge against a biogenetic corporation for experimenting on his girlfriend, Eliel Evergrand, code named EOE. Although Eliel's body was taken from her, her essence has been transformed into pure energy, allowing her to appear in hologram form to help players navigate the seven levels of the game.

Josh begins his fight with a sword, but will encounter additional weapons as the story progresses. Each weapon gains experience over time as it is used to defeat enemies, resulting in more combo attacks. Also specific to each weapon is a special move called the Legacy Drive, which involves first tracing a symbol using the right analog stick before the attack can be executed. Each Legacy Drive attack uses a variable amount of energy represented as a horizontal meter at the top of the screen.

In addition to special attacks, weapons can perform specific actions, such as a rod being used as a pole vault to reach higher areas or triggering a particular sword's ability to shoot its blades toward a wall like a grappling hook. Weapons found along the way include swords, rods, dagger-like blades, and more as players seek out enemies, bosses, and helpful items using a top-down radar screen. Options include a choice of four difficulty levels and the ability to save progress using a memory card.

  • Just like the old memories.

A great budget PS2 title. I had almost forgotten it until a friend and I were talking about the summers we spent gaming as teens.

  • Coulda been better

I can see that the were trying for a fun 3rd person alternative, but the controls are far from natural and the graphics could use some serious work. Half the time you are just pressing the button that show up on the screen. And when it comes to fighting, its very uncomfortable.

  • pretty average game

The graphics are kinda poor(but hey it's a old game). The story is abit weak and gameplay is ok to say the most. Sorry not much to say about this game really. 2.5 outta 5

  • It was a really great game.

I really want eoe when i was in elementary school. The reason is that my cousin let me barrow the game and I really like it, I always want to play the game again.

  • Eve of Extinction (PlayStation 2)

i never heard of it and i got it for my brothers birthday. heck one dollar plus shipping and handeling is not bad. from the looks of it. it seems like a fun game. i hope he likes it.
