    Great reverb pedal

    THis is the best reverb pedal out there for getting that true sixties "surf" sound without investing a ton in an actual tank reverb unit. I have tried several brands, even other Boss styles, but the '63 Fender Reverb beats them all for that natural, not overly processed sound. THis will be a staple of my pedal board from now on.

    This pedal works and sounds like it should

    I have used and built hand wired tube reverb units, stand alone and add on circuits for years. My favorite is one I built 5-6 years ago using all high end parts, replicating an original Fender reverb. The problem is, it's large and semi-prone to injury when carted around. I wanted something small that would "sound" and react like a tube reverb. This one come very close. I A/Bed this pedal with my tube reverb unit and I can get most of the same sounds. Obviously, I can't get the crashing noise when you hit the tube reverb with it's long three spring pan, but, how often do you do that? I am very satisfied and will be using this Boss pedal for a long time. I may buy another one just in case.

    Next best thing to the 60s tube reverb unit

    I haven't put this pedal through all of its paces yet, but my immediate reaction to a five minute trial was YES! That's it, that's the sound I want! I wanted a one-trick pony, a replacement for my old 63 Fender Reverb Reissue which I sold years ago. I occasionally play a 60s surf tune or other instrumental with my 57 reissue Strat, and wanted a reverb pedal that would capture the deep wet lush Dick Dale/Ventures/Shadows reverb sound with the Surf slap-back sound. This pedal does that for me. I run this pedal through with my 65 Bandmaster and it does what I want it to do. I don't know why Fender stopped making it, but can only guess that younger players want more versatility and more sounds from a reverb pedal--- I don't.
