WWII vet Harold Russell, who lost his hands in the war, is the only person to win two Oscars for the same role, Best Supporting Actor and a special Oscar "for bringing hope and courage to his fellow veterans through his appearance."

    Excellent Fredric March movie

    I finally purchased this DVD. I viewed the movie years ago on the internet, yet I wanted to have the DVD on hand to watch at my own convenience. I enjoyed watching it this time, seeing it from a deeper perspective. I can see why it garnered so many Academy Awards. Besides, Fredric March is one of my favorite actors.     Excellent classic movie.

    Classic golden age movie. All acting, no cgi b.s. Ginger Roger's was more than a dancer. She could act with the best of them. Great movie to add to a classic collection. I bought it to have as I have seen this movie time to time my entire life of 60+ years.

    I wish there was a Criterion treatment for this movie...I got more out of this movie now then when I first saw it some 30 years ago. It was powerful and moving even back then...a classic for the ages. .
