A great story about a grim time in history

I didn't know that Jack Benny was such a good actor, and Carole Lombard wasn't bad either.

  • Lubitsch made this important comedy in real time - 1942

Ernst Lubitsch took a stand againt fascism, before the USA entered WWII, when being critical toward German policy of extermination was not common. Subtle humor, impacable timing, sense of urgency and wonderful cast - all make this movie one of the greatest comedies of all time. After all, not many movies released in 1942 discussed Nazi concentration camps openly. Practically no movies are made today (2008) about the genocide taking place in Sudan... We need more Lubitsches to walk among us.
