It is much better than average quality but it is not surgical stainless steel. As with most kettles, the handle gets too hot to grab without a pot holder or dish towel to insulate it. It makes a racket as it starts up, but it does seem to be designed in such a way that the water does seem to come to a boil a lot faster than my old Kitchen Aid Kettle...and despite getting very hot it seems unlikely that the handle will deteriorate as did my Kitchen Aid as well as the spout cover on the Kitchen Aid..this one is all metal and really screams when the water comes to a full boil....I like this feature, as I try to do other things while waiting for the water to heat up and I know, even if I am at the other end of my house, when the water is ready...if the handle did not get so hot I would have given it all 5 starsRead full review

Very pleased with kettle. Heats quickly, pours evenly and without spills. Whistle is weak but sufficient if I am listening to it. Very pretty kettle. Warning....very hot to touch, much more so than my Chantel.
