I've always had respect for Ray Charles but have not taken the time to listen to many of his recordings over the years. I was quite disapponted in the Genius Loves Company recording (in spite of its many awards) because I felt that many of the guest vocalists had no business trying to sing with Ray Charles..I felt that if I'm going to listen to a Ray Charles album, I want to hear Ray--period..So when this album came along, my longtime idol, Quincy Jones, wrote in the liner notes that this album was "one for the ages"...that was good enough for me. Ray's vocals on this recording are among his best and I'm so thankful they were saved from extinction...His versions of "Oh, what a Beautiful Morning","Crying Time", and "The Long and Winding Road" are my favorites but the entire album is a joy ... The Title is perfect!
This is the Best Ray Charles CD ever! Ever! I heard it on Accuradio while working in the office and went on eBay to buy it. Had to have this right now. The way it was put together and the voices filled in and such, we heard the whole story on NPR a few days later. Great idea, and I play this CD quite often even in the car. TourMeister
