About this product

Product Information

Kirby's first outing on DS finds him woefully transformed into a little pink ball, by an evil witch who has turned Dream Land into a world of pictures and illustrations. To help the hero through this strange world, players use the stylus as a paint brush, to blot out bad guys and draw new paths for Kirby to follow. By including certain features in their painted-on pathways, such as ramps and loops, players can cause Kirby to speed up, or even jump off ramps across dangerous gaps. Walls can be drawn to help protect Kirby from ranged attacks, too. Although he's stuck in spherical form, the puffy pink hero retains his ability to borrow the powers of defeated enemies; players can use the stylus to tap out bad guys, then direct Kirby to roll in for a quick switcheroo. The main game offers seven worlds for players to canvass, and a number of mini-games and boss battles are included as well.

  • May not be what classic Kirby fans are wanting...

I found Kirby Canvas Curse to be an above average platforming experience for the Nintendo DS hand held. The game's strengths lie in the fact that it is a new experience and changes up the typical platforming formula. The entire game is stylus controlled, using it to draw lines for Kirby to ride on or quickly tap enemies to stun them. Kirby takes on the form of a ball (transformed by an evil witch at the beginning of the game) and so loses pretty much everything that makes him Kirby. It feels like the idea of this game really just used the Kirby franchise to pull in additional fans, as the gameplay is probably better suited for an original IP rather than our pink fluffy hero. On top of that, I found the presentation to be a bit strange. The menus are lifeless and boring and ...

  • Kirby's classic style but in a brand new way!

Kirby Canvas Curse is a showcase of not only innovation, but it sticks to its roots as well. The main adventure feels, looks, and plays like a Kirby game. Even though you have indirect control over Kirby by drawing paths for him like in Yoshi Touch & Go, the action is fast paced and frantic. Touching Kirby will make him dash, which can defeat enemies if you've haven't tapped them to stun them already. Taping certain objects will perform different actions as well, such as breaking rocks, or activating certain switches or buttons. And the map is very useful, actually, especially when you're trying to get the medals which you can use to unlock items. The levels start off easy and get increasingly difficult, especially in the last few levels. This is a great game for both beginniers and ...

  • An adventure.

This game is unique in its gameplay and has charming visuals and gameplay. It's awkward to get use to, but a ton of fun to play.

  • Excellent Kirby game with a twist

Initially, I bought this game as a gift for my boyfriend. Instead I took it for a test drive for about one week, then sadly gave it back. Though I hadn't finished the game, I found even at Level 2 challenging myself. I have recently completed 100% of Squeak Squad, which though more complex-- was similar to other Kirby games in the past. This one brightens up the usual game playing by incorporating the stylus. The new manner in Canvas Curse, which Kirby transports through the levels is fun, challenging, and exciting. Using abilities is taking me some getting used to but otherwise the levels are new environments to explore and I completely recommend buying this game.
