Great little lathe. Some factory issues I see. One is the cutting tools are above the center of the part and it should be slightly below center. Easy fix for user. Second - not all parts are in the container. Again, easy fix for user! Other than the above it is a great little lathe and the seller is OUTSTANDING!

    Handy and worth the money!

    Nice tight little unit. Light cleanup of metal parts was all that was required. Fit and finish of cosmetic parts ( stickers and sheet metal fitment ) leave some to be desired. I use this in my pen making business to pre round some blanks when my other lathes are being used. Works well for making bushings out of brass and steel. Overall for the money I would by this lathe again and recommend.

    Nice Mini Lathe but defective.

    Bad cyclical howling noise when turned on. Traced noises to the spindle and drive gearing on LH side of lathe. Main spindle and associated drive gearing was messed-up on unit I purchased. Assemblers over-torqued the main spindle spanner nuts. Gears did not align downstream of main spindle. Some of the plastic gears, that drive carriage movement, were severely warped because of clearances were set too-tight. Fit and finish were OK but Harbor Freight Lathes are better. Controls are cheap compared to Harbor Freight Lathe.

    It sure does the job for me.

    While not having touched a metal working lathe in 60 years, this little tool is allowing me to repair old cutting torch tips for an obsolete torch as well as making new ones. It is smooth operating and easy to adjust. I can only hope to live long enough to wear it out.

    Decent machine

    After a long time adjusting the gibs and other parts the machine runs surprisingly well. Im able to take a .0025" depth of cut on 1045 tool steel with little to no chatter. Definitely works the motor hard but leaves a really smooth surface finish. I recommend changing out the bearings to tapered roller bearings and getting a proper tool post. Other than that a decent machine for a beginner

    size is good but must be finished

    I bought this lathe 2 years ago for over $800. Not happy!!!! It's just not finished item. All handles have dead move and shake .. just not precise !!! You have to research what size of cutters takes this lathe !!! Motor power and chuck size looks OK . At the time of buying this item there was bad reviews ... i ignored them..now i regret.
