Return to sixth century Britain and reprise the role of Bradwen, the illegitimate son of the King of the Atrebates last seen in Arthur's Knights: Tales of Chivalry, as he returns to his kingdom to take control of the throne after defeating his half-brother Morganor. Upon coronation, Bradwen is beset by a curse caused by ancient crimes, and must return to Arden and Avalon to rectify the situation and restore peace to the kingdom.<br><br>As in the original game, Arthur's Knights II: The Secret of Merlin offers two paths for the main character. As a Celtic Knight, Bradwen embraces druid beliefs with Merlin as his mentor and fairies as allies, while his adventure as a Paladin Knight is Christian-based with Roman traditions. Both paths require full compliance with the Code of Chivalry,and feature his aide Corwyn who provides hints and assistance.<br><br>Gameplay features an inventory system, conversational clues, exploration of several regions, and limited combat (Bradwen cannot initiate combat unless provoked or attacked). With a change in developers, the storyline takes a new twist as you encounter ogres, St. George's Dragon, fairies, ruins, nobles, the Devil, enchanting environments, and diverse locales as you explore the legacy of Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

not much of an improved sequel of a poor game
This second game is not quite as good as the first. The first I felt was more interesting this story was too depressing even though you save everyone from the main monster your character ends up not happily ever after. I also would like to know what exactly The Secret of Merlin was? The whole game did not even talk about it. All this story talked about was a curse that you had to find out why it was put on and who put it on. Another thing that bothered me about this game was that you visited a lot of the same places that you did from the first game and there were only maybe 2 or 3 new places to visit but it felt like you were playing the first game again. I found this game to be just a series of inventory puzzles; get on your horse, get off your horse, go collect item, get on your horse, ... This second game is not quite as good as the first. The story is driven by game play and puzzles which make the game very enjoyable. The linearity is a bit tedious and the many twists and enormous amount of info to keep track of can lead to confusion, especially if you overlook a vital clue. What made it less enjoyable was the way you move around the game. If traipsing about is a big part of a game, it needs to be done in as user friendly a way as possible. More interaction is needed, though, to elevate this average game to a higher level of gaming.The story is driven by game play and puzzles which make the game very enjoyable.
