Collier, fully aware that one book cannot replace years of trial and error in the classroom, has created a book that does acknowledge how hard teaching literature can be and how demoralizing it is when we cannot reach our students and pass on our passion to them. But he goes beyond sympathy and provides some realistic areas of teaching in a literature classroom that many instructors have probably never considered ... Synopsis
Written with great insight and authority about teaching in the 'real world'-a world in which students don't always have the opportunity to be as conscientious about school work as we would like them to be-this book is a no-nonsense guide to tackling the real-life challenges of teaching English literature in the higher education classroom. Whether you're teaching in a community college, state school, liberal arts college or Ivy League institution, this book provides invaluable advice and experience-based insights which will help you to motivate and inspire your students. Collier addresses key questions such as: How do you articulate the value of literary education to students, administrators, and parents? How can a class session with a fatigued and underprepared group of students be made productive? And how do you encourage overscheduled students to read energetically in preparation for class? Teaching Literature in the Real World articulates a philosophy of teaching that is practical and realistic, offering clear guidance on how to develop learning goals for students of literature along with easy-to-implement, effective advice on pedagogical strategies, day-to-day coping mechanisms and more. Book jacket., Offering guidance and inspiration to English literature instructors, this book faces the challenges of real-life teaching and the contemporary higher education classroom head on. I tried to cancel the order immmediately realzing I had ordered the wrong year and it was not done. I was told it had already been shipped. What they meant was that the label was already on the package. Why offer cancellation if you could not do that? Not pleased with my transaction, or service . items were in fine condition. just too many of them. Will remember tresascorner 8 and not purchase from them again.

The seller was very helpful. There was a shipping issue which we worked together to resolve. it was FedEx‘s fault, not the seller’s fault. We got it worked out and I got the golf clubs. Recommend the seller!
