Regretfully the globe arrived broken. Seller responded quickly and we worked out an acceptable arrangement--in lieu of returning it at their expense, they refunded most of what I paid and I was able to make repairs. Repairs aren't perfect but I know the person I'm giving it to will appreciate its scars more than she would a brand new globe. If the seller files a successful claim with the post office, they will reimburse me the balance--definitely the right thing to do in this case.
