The hardware feels cheap, there are some loose threads, and some glue was oozing out of the corners. The design doesn't fully protect a laptop, but it's fine so long as you're not in the habit of dropping your bag. There's a smell, but its not gross. That said, I still love the bag--it's my daily driver. It's a great deal if you buy it with the right expectations.
