The Consensus Patrum as ones & zeros
I own 14 or 15 volumes of this set, bought second-hand, one or two volumes at a time, and for some 30 years I've regularly consulted them (or in more recent years their on-line counterparts), for teaching purposes, as background for preaching, and for personal edification in the Consensus Patrum, which in Orthodoxy is called the Phronema, or the Mind of the Church. Oh, I have other volumes of patristic writings as well, many of them bits of other sets, but it's the Philip Schaff set that stands out, IMO, as the Gold Standard, and having them handy as digital files on a compact disc, independent of the internet, I consider a blessing and a comfort. Of course you could copy them out of the Internet Archive onto a CD or flash drive yourself, but when you consider the time & effort that would ... The CD-ROM of Philip Schaff's Early Church Fathers is a very useful tool in reading and performing research on the Church Fathers. Both the Ante Nicene Fathers (ANF) and the Post-Nicene Fathers (NPNF, series 1 and 2) are included. The menu works well to move you to the proper article. It is in PDF file arrangement so having the Adobe is necessary to access the files.
