pocket83 here! (I make YouTube woodworking videos). This stuff has become my go-to wood finish. I use it on nearly everything. Small parts can be quickly finished with a paper towel, and then handled after only a few minutes in the sun. Second and third coats take longer to dry, but unlike most (actual) oil finishes, you can build up coats- which can give you one of the most lovely and organic satin finishes I've found. This stuff will magnify the natural beauty of wood, without giving it a plastic look. Comparing this to a more traditional "Teak oil," like Watco brand, Helmsman Teak feels more like a cross between polyurethane and shellac than it does an oil. It's very sticky, so you will have to clean your hands with mineral spirits. Watco isn't sticky at all, and it will penetrate deep, much like an oil that has been cut with kerosene, so it does not deposit well on the surface. This is probably great for marine applications, but as a general wood-worker, I prefer the Helmsman's qualities. Helmsman's wet-weather resistance is only moderate, so I wouldn't use it on actual Teak parts that are going underwater. Still, I have used it on plenty of exterior furniture without problems. Both of my stowaway stools get a yearly treatment, and those spend months at a time in our greenhouse, which is probably as bad as being on a boat! All told, this stuff is a must-have in the shop for low-priority, quick finishing. I am not sponsored by Minwax; in fact, I despise that they have a monopoly of all finishing products, but in this case, it's a good one. Let me know it on my YouTube channel if you found this ;)Read full review
