Great product
If you do a lot of soldering this is a must. I used to use the damp sponges but they were always a hassle and you have to wet them every time you fire up your iron. The only slight complaint is that it'l light so I just added some weight in the bottom or you can use some double sided tape to stick it to your bench.

Neat, effective, quick soldering iron tip cleaner.
Simple base and a ball of coiled metal. A fast poke of a hot soldering iron into the ball scrubs the iron tip clean. A simple neat tool which is really essential to your home workbench. I used to use the "drag the iron tip over a wet sponge" method, which is ridiculous by comparison. Apart from that not working well, it cools the iron tip. Definitely a must have for every soldering station.
Before purchasing this tip cleaner, I was using the wet sponge that came with the Weller WES53 to clean my soldering tips; however it made my tips very dry and turned dark very quick. One of my coworkers recommended me this product, and mentioned this kind of solder cleaner kept a thin layer of solder on the tip to keep the tip from turning black. I gave it a try and now very happy with the product. Lightweight but superior to a sponge
The bright gold makes it easy to spot while soldering. The only drawback as I see it is it's light weight. It saves time from having to wet a sponge daily and avoids the tip the cooling effect of water. Soldering is all about having a clean tip.

Needs more weight.
Effective tip cleaner, it is however very light weight and I had to add lead to the base to keep it from sliding around. Could use a thicker heavier base for best use.
