    Pleased with this cutting mat

    Having never used a cutting mat before I was not quite certain what to expect; even after reading several reviews. After using it daily for the last four weeks I can say without reservations that I am very pleased with it. 1. It does, indeed, "heal" itself to a point. Let me qualify: cuts from an X-acto blade heal very nicely. Cuts from a box cutter or any heavy blade do not heal completely. I've learned to avoid using cutting blades thicker than an X-acto hobby knife. 2. The metric/standard grid is great for laying out materials for each new project. 3. The tips of my cutting blades last much longer with this mat. I was using a wooden cutting surface before and would have to change the blades at least once a day with each new project. With this mat I have only changed my cutting ...

    Great for sewing!

    Purchased for cutting fabric. I use it with my Olfa rotary cutter and, so far, haven't noticed any marks being left! The 24" x 36" size in great for me, large enough to just well enough with bigger projects, but still small enough to slide into my closet (it's very sturdy material, don't expect to roll it or fold it to put it away).

    the 1/2 inch markings are annoying, instead of 1" used to cut most things!

    I don't like the 1/2" measured increments when I usually have used ONE INCH increments. I have to count every inch, every time. This I find extremely annoying and I wish I did not purchase this. There are no markings on the other side. It is thick and cuts well. I do like the color. None of these features however make the 1/2 " marks less obnoxious.
