A worthwhile price, and a great movie!

I love this movie, as it’s comfortably entertaining and a safe Hero flick. We’ll often put in on before or after ‘The Shadow’ with Alec Baldwin; both same-era great :) I’m glad I finally reached out to purchase both releases on dvd, to share with my peeps. Thanks! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

A Brave Attempt at the Legend

This review is written thirteen years after the film was released; hopefully, that will provide a little helpful perspective. The Phantom is classic Americana, certainly one of the longest-running comic strips in our history, with a legendariam rivaling the Man of Steel. Thus, one would hope that a cinematic treatment would be exciting, robust and lead to a lot of sequels like Superman's excellent forays into the movies. Sadly, that wasn't what happened: this film, though trying valiantly for a sequel, bombed at the box office and remains a disappointment. Why? Certainly the star was no Christopher Reeve; other actors were also pretty bland and the direction appears to have been the reason. It's a beautiful film, but I strained to hear the dialogue and, after splendid Marvel movies since it came out leaves an empty engagement. You just don't have any desire to jump on a horse and go after bad guys! Go see The Black Panther or good old Thor.
