Great tribute album
The work is a tribute to the incomparable Cannonball Adderly by a superstar ensemble headed by saxophonist Tom Scott. The best tracks, like "Jive Samba," crackle with energy, and they never cease to hold interest. Vocalist Nancy Wilson, who memorably collaborated with Adderly, contributes on two numbers. And fans of drummer Steve Gadd will enjoy his work here. The liner notes by Tom Scott himself, a written homage, add to the pleasure. Like the best tribute albums, it both stands on its own merits while sending the listener back to the original recordings that inspired it.
