I buy home school material online expecting one or two pages to be filled out, or for a family to have purchased it and then changed their minds, etc, or occasionally something that has a factory defect (like ink bleeds or small tears to the cover). This is probably the first time I've run in to something like this:
The book (content) itself is good, the pages and covers are unmarked, but the spine had been "cracked", like it was either photocopied or scanned or something. The distortion means it doesn't look "brand new", despite how clean the pages are, and won't lay flat on the table.
It is still in usable condition for my son, but... I guess I have the expectation that "brand new" means actually "brand new".
