  • The Best Remaster of Pet Sounds I Have Ever Heard

For the booklet of this 2000 re-issue producer/engineer Mark Linett wrote: “In the preparation of this compact disc every effort has been made to make this historic recording sound the way it did when Brian, Mike, Carl, Dennis, Al and Bruce released it in 1966. No remixing was attempted as it was felt this would not be faithful to the original intent of the artist.” That is what was achieved. Listening to this CD is even better than I recall experiencing the Pet Sounds LP in 1966. And far more fulfilling than the 1996 stereo remaster I have in iTunes. Brian Wilson's monophonic recording technique blended this incredible music in such ways that the overall effect is exquisite to the ears. Just like Wilson intended it to be.
