My title "Helped me overcome the "Why bother to get out of bed?" depression I had suffered with for years." is true. I had been on the big "P" prescription anti-depressant medicine for years (5-6 at least) and its' effectiveness had been declining. At the suggestion of a friend I bought my first box of SAM-e 400mg for $32 for a box of 30. If memory serves me, in less than two weeks I began to overcome my early morning blockade of defeatism at the days prospects. I am also calmer and don't get agitated in difficult situations. Instead I find I am able to soldier on and persevere. Originally I started on another brand (from a local whole foods coop) that was double the price of the NatureMade and had good results, but when the price went up to $1.50 a pill I started researching alternatives ... I have taken this brand of Sam-e for years!
I have taken this off and on for years. When I run out, I can feel the difference. It affects my mood in a positive way, and it helps keep my joints comfortable. Sam-e 400mg really makes a difference for me, and Nature Made is the only brand I have liked, and I have tried any. It takes about a week to feel it working, so give it some time. Try it!

I sense SAM-e, combined with other bone, joint, and as a by product mood enhancement, are working. No, have not taken one, in lieu of the other, to test my hypothesis. Simply don't have time, or patience for that. To do so, I've found via health resources on the Internet. "Testing," could mean my taking months, in some cases years to "prove" they work best together, or one is better than another. My main reason for SAM-e is joint comfort, which deteriorates with physical activity and age. SAM-e is supposed to be a source of sulfur, an important product of joint tissue. I'm old as dirt, I'm 5'8", 147 pounds. Can't run anymore, spinal stenosis C's, T's, L's, skeletal, hip degeneration, and the like. Have had two of my lower L's operated on, helping relieve exquisitely acute buttock, ... I sense SAM-e, combined with other bone, joint, and as a by product mood enhancement, are working. Anyhow, so walk at a quick pace, 90 minutes every other day. On alternate days 90 minutes plus of reasonably intense, free weight lifting, crunches (spine won't permit sit ups anymore), exercise resistance tubing, isometrics, which is static strength training. Don't knock isometrics, it works, check it out. Works for many people, who are impeded from doing other certain types of exercises. Just check with your PCP first! Many guys I know in their 30's, 40's can't do the isometrics I do. Free weights, my totals are down, I've grudgingly told myself, you're not 35 anymore, stupid. Along with other totals being down as well  Happens when you become an old guy like me. All that said, I feel SAM-e and other bone, joint supplements have permitted me to do a decent amount of exercise. Even if my totals are not what they once were. Something is better than nothing . . .
