Exactly What I Wanted
Shipped super fast! I'm so excited to actually get to use this. The minis are pretty cheap, not made of hard plastic but I actually prefer the rubbery feel because it's less likely to snap and break. The guide leaves a lot to interpretation so you don't feel like you have to follow any specific lore and your players aren't stuck to a script. The dice included are the same as you'd get in a regular starter set. The character sheets are actually pretty interesting and personalized, so they're easy to use but still fun. Meh... not what I'd hoped it would be.
It's... okay. Basically another D&D Starter, with the sole exception of including the Demogorgon as a monster. Other than that, it's just medieval D&D - save that the party starts at 3rd level. You are NOT playing as the 1950s kids from the show. It's not world-specific like the other two starters, and presumes the group has a patron they've worked for already. I personally feel it's noticeably inferior to the regular Starters (and definitely the Essentials Toolkit, which beats them all). It's... okay. Basically another D&D Starter, with the sole exception of including the Demogorgon as a monster. Other than that, it's just medieval D&D - save that the party starts at 3rd level.
