    Archaeological Study Bible

The Archaeological Study Bible is a very good Bible for studying scripture and I had seen other reviewers about the Study Bible about how it is highly recommended for a sincere person studying and understanding scripture. In fact, it printed on single format on each page, not double format. Also the explanations are truly great, the pictures and descriptions are really great. The value compared to other prices is still worth it. Overall, highly recommended.

    Not what I expected

I expected Biblical archaeological drawings, published Biblical archaeological discoveries rather than traditions and lifestyle information. I expected more color and maps too. The content is compelling because it is God's word. To me, it was not compelling archaeology-wise. It was a good value because I bought it second-hand on ebay. I was disappointed in it, but someone else may find it compelling in addition to it being God's word.

  • NIV 2005 vs KJV 2010

I bought the NIV (isbn ending 6054) and compared it to the KJV (isbn 2610) from my local library and did a cursory comparison. Only difference I noted was in the study helps at the back. The NIV has a table of weight and measures and a list of articles by scripture reference that are not included in the KJV. Though both still have a list of articles in alphabetical order for reference. I didn’t dig deep yet but did flip through and compare some of the study notes and articles and all the helps.

This Bible has wonderful pictures and actual facts concerning the communities written about It's references compel you to look further in your studies. It has broadened my study and makes me ponder what was happening, what life was like, and how God provides. I cannot imagine my study without this book. I wish I had heard about it sooner.

  • A thorough and credible archaeologists' study of the Bible.

This well-researched history and archaeology gives confidence to refute those who want to tell us the Bible is all made-up and contrived. With more and more archaeological discoveries verifying the Biblical accounts, our Scriptures are gaining a wide credibility, even among those non-Christian scientific/ historical communities. I am impressed with he thoroughness and the objectivity of this study Bible - it serves to inform those who have a genuine interest in learning the real history of the most important story ever told.

  • Beautiful Bible with color pictures of supporting archaeological finds.

I was so excited about finding this Bible. It is out of print and listed for collector's value most places. So when I found a reasonable price for a used book, I bought it. I am glad I did. This is a beautiful Bible with color pictures of suppoting archaeological finds throughout.

  • Beautiful and Enriching Study Bible

Archaeological Study Bible is amazing! It provides background for many Bible stories and it shows pictures, maps, and illustrations of many Bible stories and people. It is a fabulous research tool and a provides an enriching Bible read by pointing out things that the reader may gloss over without the study aids.

  • Not your average study Bible -- helps to understand the historical context

While other study Bibles might focus on theological issues, this Bible's focus is on helping you to understand the historical setting of the Bible stories by examining what archaeology has discovered about the peoples and places of the Bible. While this isn't a good first study Bible, it is great for anyone looking to move beyond the basics.
