Fun, strategically challenge.
Fun, fun , fun ! My brother-in-law and I have been playing this board game, now for about 22 years practically every weekend. We made some minor changes to the start set up to all countries to make it more aggressive and strategically challenge.

The best way to play Axis & Allies is us...
The best way to play Axis & Allies is using the original 1981 "Nova Games Edition" rules using the Milton Bradley map / board. Make your own cardboard units and throw away the plastic miniatures that are a pain in the neck to play with. The rules for Axis & Allies got worse and worse as each new version was released. Just my humble opinion. But I love the Milton Bradley map. It's the best. And the foam trays are very useful too.

A classic game of Axis and Allies (A&A)
The new version in stores is a simplified game and isn't as enjoyable as the original, in my opinion. The new version has a smaller board, fewer rules, does not include industrial R&D, and does not have anti-aircraft guns.

One of the reasons that I like this game is that it is very strategic and complex in its economic and political environment. Any of the countries can win this game if played right with cautious maneuvering and the roll of the dice.
