Radar detectors like the Cobra Vedetta SLR 500 pick up most of the laser guns and radar guns that law enforcement personnel employ to check ongoing traffic speed. Features include a voice alert, an IntelliMute muting ability that is sensitive to speed, and a meter to show the signal and battery strength. With a quad-level filter to prevent false signals, the IntelliShield will avoid false alarms. Signals from microwaves, fast-food restaurants, or garage door openers will not trigger the Cobra. The SmartPower feature will detect your vehicle being turned off and automatically shut off the detector for power conservation. The Vedetta SLR 500 features a 2.4-inch TFT LCD display. The unit is attached with a suction cup that features a ball socket mount for the SLR 500 to sit on. The versatile and flexible suction cup can be placed anywhere on your windshield or the dashboard of your car. As a result, mounting the radar detection device is extremely simple. When not in use, the mount and screen can be removed just as easy as they were installed. Rotate the device up to 270 degrees vertically or 60 degrees horizontally and adjust for optimum viewing. The graphics display on the screen is bold and easy to read at a glance due to the backlight feature. You can quickly see what is necessary and keep your focus and eyes on the road. As you skim along the street or the highway, the detector alerts you to the presence of a laser and its pulse rate or displays the band type and frequency of radar guns in the area. The device will detect up to four selectable radar bands as well as up to 10 laser bands. By scanning 360 degrees, both the front and the back of your vehicle are protected. Different highway and city sensitivity modes ensure continuous accuracy and reliability when changing road types. This device will also let you know when the car battery is no longer doing the job and is below 11.9 volts. When traveling in an area that does not allow radar detection accessories, it is important to avoid being noticed. The Cobra SLR 500 Radar Detector will provide you with invisibility and immunity to the VG-2 and Spectre 1 detectors that attempt to find radar detectors. The Cobra detector even folds up when not in use to keep it from blocking your line of vision. The SLR 500 can hide in plain sight.With dimensions of 3-5/8 by 3-5/8 by 4-5/8 inches, the Cobra Vedetta SLR 500 model Detector is a compact size that is designed for unobtrusive use in any car. The power cord is a convenient 12V cigarette lighter adapter, which makes it easy to keep the unit charged. For the money you pay it has a decent range. I mainly bought the cobra SLR-500 because I figured the big screen would look cool in my car. I don't really speed or do anything crazy I got it for the looks of all the gadgets in my car. Not as good as I hoped.
I bought this simply because it looked cool and the price was low. I now understand why. I figured I would try it and if it worked I would buy the newer model but this thing well It has a mind of its own and that just doesn't work for me. My license is suspended for yet another month (Had one beer but told the cop I would blow in his ear before I blew in the machine) so I don't risk speeding, I just like to know where the boogers are and well this radar at times it will pick up the signal from a decent distance and other times it won't pick it up until the cop is right up on me. In my lifetime I had had 5 different Cobra radar detectors and I have to say this one is the worst I've ever owned. It does look cool tho I will give it that but the whole 30% better then the other cobra radars yeah I don't think so. If you do buy this style buy the newer one and be sure to leave a review. Me I think I'm just going to get the Cobra 360 again. (Had and was stolen) that was a pretty decent one. Not great but good enough for where I live and it never let me down. Great bang for the buck!
Long story short I have a Beltronics Vector 995 and RX 65 and the Cobra SLR 500 works just as great as the name brand ones I have for a fraction of the price. I was actually looking for a different Cobra model but stumbled across this one and did a couple reviews [Most videos are in Russian fyi] and was very impressed by the performance I decided to give it a shot and I am glad that I did. Great distance even with traffic but without traffic one late night I was able to peg a cop shooting radar 1.25+ miles down the road. I have had this one for 2 years now and it is still working great. I even bought my father one for his birthday this July. I thought the new units would not false as much.... I haven't used a detector in years and thought that they would have improved over the years - Guess not - disappointed in what I got for the money - Built cheap and has a cheap feel to it..... the unit is a $25 outfit if you ask me.... Do not buy the cobra vendetta
The cobra vendetta is nothing like I read in the other reviews this was my first time using cobra while using this radar it shuts it's self off at anytime while in use I read the instruction to see if it was a solution I tried everything it still continue to shut down it only give notice when you aproching a radar when you about 20 feet away from it or you parked next to it I would've sent it back but my son destroyed the box so now I'm stuck with a useless radar that doesn't work it's money I just waistedVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Cobras latest is back to own the competition
I have owned several cobra detectors over the last few years and this is the best one yet. Its large lcd screen and excellent range make it a top value product. Horrible
