Good mechanics, poor software
Unit is mechanically sound, the software or “skills” are significantly lacking. Bought this to be a bedside clock, only to find it does not have the capability of a motionless full screen clock face. It only offers a floating, multi size readout. But if you want “this day in history” or “cat facts” this is for you. No Group Calls
I started with the Echo Show 5 and it was a bit small so I upgraded to the 8 and it is the perfect size. The screen is vibrant and colorful. Alexa works great. The only thing I don't like is that you can only talk with one person at a time. I along with older family members ordered it as a easier way of communication but no one knew we would not be able to do a group call or chat. This feature is supposedly being worked on for use in the future but as of now, it's just a 1 on 1 video calling feature. Great addition to your smart home security system
This thing is better than expected. After adjusting the EQ the sound is great for a room. I’m not expecting to use it to through a block party, so it works very well.
