    The ONLY speedloader for me

Many, many years ago as a young patrolman, I wanted the easiest and fastest speedloader for my duty weapon. However, I purchased another brand speedloader, which will remain nameless, and carried it in my ammo carrier for months. Then one fateful day, I needed to reload my revolver in the worst kinda way: The speedloader had "frozen" up and refused to release the cartridges no matter how I pounded on it. In desperation, I yanked out my ink pen and stabbed the speedloader release mechanism, freeing the cartridges! NEEDLESS TO SAY, I later purchased two HKS speedloaders to replace the other brand and they have served me well, rain or shine, cold or hot, in all matter of weather until my retirement 40 years later! There is NO substitute for the simple twist of the knob to release your cartridges. KISS!

The HKS 36A Speed loader troubles

Well it doesn't really do any "speed loading" as the HKS 36A isn't so easy to actually get into the empty gun. The smaller 5 shot cylinder doesn't come out enough on my .38 special. The cylinder release is in the way a bit. So you have to finesse the rounds into the cylinder with the rounds with an unusual what I would call a sort of "pre-release" which is a bit troublesome. Actually it would probably be faster if you just loaded the 5 rounds individually. So mine are now in a box tucked away for perhaps a time in the future when they figure out how to get that cylinder to drop out a bit further, not much though.

  • Works but not made well.

I need them for storage of extra ammo. These speed loaders aren't going to last if used a lot. They have plastic clips that hold the bullets in. You've gotta twist really hard to get them to hold and my bullets fall out if speed loader is loader dropped. But they serve my needs for an extra speed loader in my vehicle. Good price, poorly built.

  • HKS Speedloader 36-A (S&W Mod. 60)

I bought this speedloader to use with a S&W Model 60. It works but it is a little tight and I have to jiggle it somewhat to get the cartridges to release. Standard grips are on this J-frame and there is no interference between the loader and the grip. I have only used it a couple of times, so the problem may be me. Some time spent using it may the the answer.

  • Reasonable price, quality product, that can’t get your wheel guns loader in seconds

It works like a champ. Have tried it with several different types of ammo and manufacturers

  • faster than loading 1 at a time

It hits the side of my pistol frame but just a little wiggle and they fall into place. Much faster than trying to load a bullet one at a time. Great value for the price and makes good use of your range time.

  • Organized loader

The H&K speed loader series is not exactly the sport shooters dream loader. It is more of an organized loader. In other words, it takes the hassle of fumbling ammunition by organizing them into the select amount and order in which they are retrieved and placed into the gun. My dad has been Using the H&K brand speed loaders for 30 years with the ruger Super Blackhawk 44 mag. They have always worked great. If you want speed, you need a self releasing loader. H&K is close, but the spin lock is not exactly practical when the object it's locked into can also spin in the same direction. Other than that, these are reasonably priced, we'll built, very rugged, light weight and don't take up much room. For the money, you get quality and comfort. For the competition, you might be a second longer on the clock though.

  • Works like it's supposed to

Bought for a Taurus 38, it works, faster than loading one at a time. However, I have to do a little trimming on the grip for a better fit due to the bulkiness. Says it may be necessary right on the package.

  • A little bit tight.

It does not work as well as I had hoped for my wife's Taurus model 85 .38 special. It is kind of tight and you have to shake it somewhat to make it work. I know how to use one but she hadn't ever even heard of one so I am concerned about her using it in the time of need.
