Digitally re-mastered edition of this classic holiday Folk album. The Kingston Trio's 1960 album THE LAST MONTH OF THE YEAR was, contrary to the typical Christmas release, arguably the most ambitious album the Trio had released to date and maybe even the most ambitious album of their career. Dave Guard, Nick Reynolds and Bob Shane wove together a rich tapestry of European legends and scripture, lullabies, and spirituals from the American deep South and gave them the unique Kingston Trio stamp, complete with unusual instrumentation and, in Nick Reynolds' words, 'really tricky harmonies, really tricky arrangements.' Plus, there were no popular Christmas favorites to be found; instead, some of the material was downright dark, such as the opening track, 'Bye Bye Thou Tiny Little Child,' which refers to King Herod's massacre of the innocents. But make no mistake, this album captures all the joy of the Christmas season, and remains truer to the holiday's real origins than just about any album of a similar ilk made by a major recording artist. It's a true Christmas classic, here with added photos and great liner notes by folk music expert Tom Pickles.

    Last Month Of The Year album is First Rate

    The Kingston Trio's Christmas album originally released in October 1960 (on LP/vinyl record) has always been my favourite Christmas album. Glad to be able to get hold of it on CD.....and kudos to Gordon Anderson of Real Gone Music for putting this all together. Tremendous top-notch packaging including a CD booklet filled with lots of info and pictures of the Kingston Trio: Dave Guard / Bob Shane / Nick Reynolds. Yes...and the sound on this CD is superb...in Full Dimensional Stereo. WOW /// Sounds as if these guys are singing in our living room !!! The songs are very unique and took a lot of time and research to record such an album. This CD includes "We Wish You A Merry Christmas" which is the only "standard" Christmas tune here. In any event, this happens to be an excellent album ...

    Yay! Finally!

    This has always been one of my favorite Christmas albums. From the title track to their lovely rendition of the Coventry Carol, Nick, Bob and Dave bring all of the season's reverence, joy and a bit of craziness to spice the holidays. I lost my vinyl years ago and am so happy to have it again. Regular shipping was very quick and service excellent.

    A Great Christmas Album You'll Never Tire Of

    This Christmas CD, released in the 1960's on LP, is one of the best Christmas albums ever. The Kingston Trio did a great job with lyrics of British, German, etc. origin and used several stringed instruments.

    Since I was a much younger man, I always enjoyed the Kingston Trio. To find their Christmas Album was one of the highlights of my9 Christmas music collection. Still enjoying their music to this day.
