The Rode VideoMic Pro VMP Shotgun Microphone is ideally useful with HDSLR cameras, audio recorders, and camcorders. Using a revised, sophisticated shock mounting system and a lightweight premium cable, the Rode shotgun microphone is able to considerably reduce any noise transference. The camcorder shotgun microphone features a broadcast-quality condenser capsule with a super cardioid pickup pattern for effectively recording video from the front while reducing pickup form the sides and back. With an integrated shock mount and foam windscreen, the DSLR camera microphone minimizes handling and wind noise, and maintains clarity in all your recordings. The two-step high pass filter with 0 and 80Hz settings enables you to drastically reduce the impact of low frequency humming sound, noise of a camera motor, and other related distractions. You can easily attach this camcorder shotgun microphone to boom poles and cameras using the standard camera shoe and a 3/8 inch threaded mount.

    Great accessory for compact Video Camera

    Fits well on top of the camera. So far, sensitivity is so good it has to be turned down 10 db. Picks up sound without noise from the camera zoom. Great mic!

    Disappointing incurable audio hiss. Pics up silence and converts it to noise.

    Constant hiss in the audio no matter what I do. I watched videos, read articles, and contacted support. I elected to return the mic because no matter what I did the hiss persisted. It pics up noise it shouldn't I just want to hear my voice and then silence. My voice sounds decent but there's always a constant hiss underneath. I thought RODE was this amazing brand (it's literally the only one I know by name.) I expected excellence and got "Meh."

    small, yet very powerful!

    this was a gift for my son, and he absolutely loves it! he said it's by far the best bang for your buck microphone. he researched different ones, and chose the rode himself. what he liked most, was the adjustment on the back, for near, far, and focused pinpointed sound. he's used it several times since he got it and just raves about the quality of sound each time.

    Rode VideomicPro+ the best on camera mic I have used

    The primary use I have for the Rode VideomicPro+ is in conjunction with filming with the Panasonic GH4 and Atomos Ninja Flame in an Axler Cage rig and on a Moza Aircross gimbal rig. I record 4K or 1080-60p 4:2:2 Avid DNxHD 10 bit in the Ninja Flame along with audio from the camera via HDMI as a secondary stereo audio. Then I feed dual channel mono from the Rode VideomicPor+ directly into the Ninja Flame, with 1 channel boosted and the other channel a safety. Works really well. I also use the VideomicPro+ for occasional voice over.

    Sick mic

    Killer sound. I've used this mic for years. Business is growing so I got some more of these. Wouldn't use anything else. Deadbeat it awesome as well. A little awkward taking on and off, but it cuts down wind etc and works great!
