Reviews"If you're worried about the loss of freedom at home, and the attacks on Israel abroad, this important book should only reaffirm our commitment to stand tall. This is one of the best history books I've ever read...Every library in America should have this history book in it. Unbelievable. You'll love it."--Glenn Beck

SynopsisMost people would be surprised to learn that fewer than 12 of the 193 countries in the world today have a democratic government that has survived for more than fifty years. In this remarkable bestselling book, now in paperback, authors Chris Stewart and Ted Stewart examine seven miracles that changed the course of the world and paved the way for the freedoms of democratic government. The authors take actual historical events and skillfully weave in story vignettes to fully flesh out compelling details. They make the case that history would have been dramatically altered if any of these events turned out differently and affirm, as our Founding Fathers did, that a providential hand was at play in securing our freedom. The book explores seven pivotal people in world events which helped form our democracy, including: * A handful of Greek soldiers and their naval commanders in a life-or-death confrontation with the Persians in 480 BC. * A small band of Frankish soldiers who stood against the conquering armies of Islam more than 1,300 years ago. * The people of Great Britain who refused to surrender to the overwhelming power of Hitler's Third Reich., Most people would be surprised to learn that fewer than 12 of the 193 countries in the world today have a democratic government that has survived for more than fifty years. • Interesting & relating the past to the present and future in what we experience as a nation

Without certain turning points in history, we would not be where we are today with the freedoms we enjoy. I love history and while the brothers at first take a fictional approach to a story (that could be true but they bring it to light in detail, as something that people have gone through) to introduce a subject. This helps make the reading not "dry" like some historical reading can be. I truly enjoy going back in time with these authors as they vividly describe something from a time that could have happened and goes hand and hand with the true historical account. It grabs my attention and would be a read that could even capture my teenager's attention. I highly recommend this book. I have sent it to family, as well, to those who I thought would be interested. It is an educational, helpful, and engaging read. Definitely worth the purchase!

  • Outstanding Read

This is the kind of book that you cannot put down. Very compelling history of mankind and our barbaric nature of war and slavery. After reading this book I realized that most Americans take their freedom for granted and have no clue of the past. America is free due to it's faith in Almighty God and when that is gone the USA is doomed.
