About this product
Product Information
Battle rebel androids in a futuristic world in this thrilling installment in the Mega Man X games series. In Mega Man X: Command Mission for Nintendo GameCube, a material called Force Metal becomes an important economic resource. Force Metal has the power to produce androids called Reploids, and Giga City is the center of both the mining and processing of the material. When a Reploid called Epsilon becomes a “Maverick” and rebels against the government, attempting to take over Giga City, Colonel Redips sends Mega Man X, Zero, Axl, and the rest of the Maverick Hunter team team to Giga City to liberate the city from the occupying rebel forces. One of the team members betrays them, and Mega Man X must join forces with a resistance force that includes Spider, Chief R, and Steel Massimo. Mega Man X, Zero, and the resistance must defeat Epsilon and the Maverick Reploids before time runs out. Unlike other games in the Mega Man X series, which are action platformers, Mega Man X: Command Mission is a turn-based role-playing game. You follow the plot of the game as it unfolds, entering each stage as you progress through the story. The graphics offer a split-screen feature that displays both a battle point of view and a field point of view. Each stage has a boss, which you must defeat to move on to the next level. Although you move through the game’s main stages in order, you can enter Adventure Stages each time you enter the Central Tower. You can also revisit each adventure stage to gain more points and find weapons and other items. Force Metal upgrades each character’s weapons and attacks, which helps you defeat trickier enemies and bosses. Attacks mainly involve shooting, but you can use special attacks to defeat enemies as well. Mega Man X is the main character in Mega Man X: Command Mission, but the game also features a great selection of other playable characters. Zero appears as an important playable character and serves as Mega Man X’s right-hand man. Zero is part of the original Maverick Hunter team sent to defeat the rebel Reploids. Like Mega Man X, Zero is a Reploid, and he has advanced battle capabilities. Axl is another key playable character, a newer Reploid and one of the original Maverick Hunters. Spider is a bit of a wild card in the game. Spider appears after the Maverick Hunters are defeated and disbanded, and he is introduced as a bounty hunter that does not have an alliance to either side. Other playable characters include steel Massimo, Marino, and Cinnamon. Mega Man X: Command Mission also offers a variety of boss characters, including Epsilon, Shadow, Scarface, Ninetails, Botos, and Ferham. Colonel Redips also unmasks himself as a Maverick and becomes one of the major bosses of the game. Mega Man X: Command Mission was first released in Japan as Rockman X: Command Mission. It is available for PlayStation 2 and GameCube. It is part of the Mega Man X series, which includes popular games such as Mega Man X7. The GameCube version of the game does not require special accessories; however, if you have a Game Boy Advance, you can use the GameCube Link cable to connect the portable console and find rare hidden items within the game.
