Inhaltsangabe: Problemstellung: Wahrend die Halbwertszeit des Wissens rapide abnimmt, fuhrt gleichzeitig dessen exponentielles Wachstum zu einem sich weltweit abzeichnenden Wandel hin zu einer Wissensgesellschaft. Der Faktor Wissen und sein Management wird zunehmend als zentraler Wettbewerbsvorteil gesehen. So entfallen bereits jetzt 60% bis 100% der Unternehmenswertschoepfung auf diesen neuen Produktionsfaktor. Trotzdem werden nur zwischen 20% und 40% des verfugbaren Wissens von Unternehmen tatsachlich genutzt. Die Identifikation und Nutzung dieser brachliegenden Wissenspotentiale mit dem Ziel, die Unternehmensposition dauerhaft zu sichern, ist Aufgabe eines unternehmensweiten Wissensmanagements. Schnittstellen zwischen Wissensmanagement und der Personalentwicklung sind dahingehend vorhanden, dass der Mitarbeiter und sein Wissen als Ressource im Mittelpunkt der Aufmerksamkeit stehen. Nur eine auf lange Sicht ausgerichtete Entwicklung und Foerderung des intellektuellen Kapitals in Form Qualifizierter Mitarbeiter wird dem Unternehmen strategische Wettbewerbsvorteile ermoeglichen. Mit der Forderung nach einer Verringerung der Diskrepanz zwischen vorhandenen und genutzten Wissenspotentialen stellt sich die Frage, inwiefern die Personalentwicklung in der Lage ist, zur Realisierung dieser Zielsetzung beizutragen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist zu zeigen, wie eine aktive Personalentwicklung durch die Identifikation, Foerderung und Entwicklung von Wissenstragern zur Implementierung einer Wissensstrategie fuhren kann. Ausgehend vom Modell der Wissensbausteine nach Probst et al. wird anhand ausgewahlter Beispiele dargestellt, welche Methoden und Massnahmen der Personalentwicklungsplanung, Personalfoerderung und der Weiterbildung hierfur geeignet sind. Eine Strategievorgabe zur konkreten Umsetzung des Wissensmanagements mit Hilfe der Personalentwicklung kann diese Arbeit nicht liefern.
