A perfect "final statement" on one of the greatest albums of all time
While perhaps not as well known as some of the other "psychedelic" albums of 1967 (most notably, the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper), this album remains the most concise, focused, and beautiful albums of all time: arguably "the" psychedelic album of all time. All of this is made even more impressive by the fact that it was Pink Floyd's first album, and even more tragic considering the infamous downfall of front man Syd Barrett after it came out. This version of the album comes with a stereo mix of the album (fairly identical to the prior CD release from 1994) and a mono mix, which showcases some subtle, but major, differences in sound. The bonus disc contains some of the bands early singles and b-sides ("Arnold Layne, "Candy and a Currant Bun," "Apples and Oranges," and "Paintbox"), an alternate version of "Matilda Mother," and two different versions of the band's famous jam "Interstellar Overdrive." The final track on the bonus disc, "Interstellar Overdrive (Take 6)" offers an extremely different take on the song that I have actually grown to prefer to the one that made the album proper. In addition, this all comes with a book containing early band notes and artwork. A great product for anyone who loves Pink Floyd.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

The mono (monoral) version of the album does sound different than you stereo version that I am used to hearing. The extra tracks on both the mono and stereo disks are nice to have too. And the third disk of bonus tracks is cool too. This release (the tracks on disks one and two) are more or less like a combined version of the original US LP and UK LP, which do differ. This album includes all songs. Many of the "extra" tracks were also included on the Pink Floyd compilation "Relics". I now am thinking of seeking out a UK copy of the original LP. I'm pretty sure the one I already have is an US copy. Hmmm, but what of those Mono vs Stereo LPs? This product is nicely packaged, though a bit pricey considering you are essentially paying for two versions of the same album. I already also own a Stereo CD version and not sure of my LP. The sound is clearer and improved over the previous CD reissue and Stereo LP. "Interstellar Overdrive" is distinctly different in its monoral mix. It seems at the time they mixed the singles for monoral release but as singles put more work into them. You'll quickly notice that in the mono "Interstellar Overdrive" there is an organ near the beginning of the track that is lacking from the stereo mix altogether. And there are other sound effects and parts of the music including solos that differ. For much of the entire album the two mixes differ in sound.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
