Cable would jam in the cam. Perhaps a one off. Seller quickly made good with a refund. I went ahead and purchased a Park. No comparison.

Need to hand place cable into jaws

Definately works. Like all new tools there is a learning curve. On very flexible cables or cables previously installed with a bend or kink at the end of the cable, will have to hand place/feed cable into jaws. Can be used to tighten or loosen cable. Make sure locking-cam is rotated into place. Will need to tighten the brake cable clamping bolt in between when running-out of travel adjustment on tool. To loosen need to manually release locking-cam and slowly release hand and "re-engage" locking-cam. For tightening locking-cam self-locks as the lever is squeezed as long as cam is in position. I also use a soft-jawed trigger clamping bar to keep brake caliper in place while adjusting brake cable. Ordered a vintage spring steel third-hand brake caliper clamp when I saw another biking ...

  • This is where the good Tensioners begin

Thanks Pedro! I purchased a 'cheaper' cable puller to set the cables on a road bike I'm building and found out right away why they are cheaper. Its the thickness of the working parts. When you slip the cheaper one in place and pull on the cable, the thinner metal pushing against the cable allows the cable to 'accidentally' wedge behind it. Now the work really begins! you have to get the puller off the wedged in cable! If you are really looking for a good cable puller that doesn't cause problems, start with Pedro's and not the cheaper imitation knock off. Its well worth the extra and you can use it for what it's intended without incident.

  • Replacing Cables Just Got Easier

Pedro’s makes quality tools, and this one is no exception. The tool has already earned its keep while doing a job to replace shifter cables on a mountain bike. I doubt I could’ve pulled the cables tight enough without this tool. The thumb lock is a must! Most cheaper versions of this tool lack that feature.

  • A must have.

Works like a charm , makes cable adjusting precise and easy, really there is no struggle to hold a cable and adjust. You simply put the cable in give it a little squeeze till the cable is where you want it ,then lock the tool and the cable stays put so you can fine tune and set your brake or detailer then tighten down the cable when all is right with the world. This tool is made very well and is simple to use.

  • Great cable puller!

As a cycle assembler for a big company, this little gadget saves major time without fumbling around with pliers. The thumb lock keeps the cable puller locked in on the right tension you adjust it to. You can literally let go of it and it will stay attached to the cable like a pit bull! I save about 5-10 minutes per bike. I highly recommend this product to any professional as well as the weekend warrior! A real winner!
