    Terrific HD radio with a few things lacking

    Lacks external antenna jack, has only five memory locations for each channel, but works easily and has excellent sound. With an external antenna connected through an adapter that clips on antenna, HD reception is great.

    Nice little radio but needs redesigned

    Here is what I don't like about the radio. It does not have a rechargeable battery but the cheaper non HDR version has the rechargeable lithium battery pack. This is Sangean best radio why doesn't it have the lithium battery pack? If 100.7 has 3 HDR stations you can only store 1 of those stations. There should be a way to disengage the HDR feature because when HDR stations are to weak to pull the digital signal it keeps flipping back and forth to analog and HDR. I would like to be able to just keep the station on analog to prevent pauses and flipping from HDR to analog. The display is way to bright. Needs to have a dimmer adjustment for the display. The AM antenna is terrible. The non HDR model has a better AM antenna. Why have bass if it's all distorted? Any bass distorts ...

    One of the best portables.

    I’ve owned a Sangean AM/FM portable radio for 10 years. It is a terrific radio. Sound quality is impressive, as is design and build quality. The newer Sangean HD AM/FM portable is a virtual twin. Great quality, easy operation, clear tones. Apart from offering HD, another thing I like about the new HD model is that it requires only 4 C size batteries, instead of the 6 C batteries needed for the older AM/FM model.

    Good radio but needs more clean audio power. Like at least 2.5 watts @ say 1% harmonic or close.

    Sound quality is good but, for me personally, I wish the amplifier had at least 2.5 watts of clean power. I am somewhat hard of hearing and extra power would have made a big difference to me. 1.5 watts @10% harmonic distortion isn't terrific. I realize that on battery this might require more frequent battery replacement but it is a trade off I'd be willing to make. 4 D cells instead of C cells?

    Good Reception, Great Sound

    I have another model of this personal stereo, and this one is even better ! I get clear reception from stations over 50 miles away FM. Not an easy feat with most portable radios. The sound quality is great for such a small device.
